Flowers

A wide array of flowers can be used in natural dyeing. Historically, flowers have always been used as a source of natural color and a powerful tool in the dyers arsenal. Flowers can be used in many different dye techniques and applications such as immersion dyeing, eco printing, or bundle dyeing.

When dyeing with flowers, we try and work locally and only use what is readily available to us, in season, and not harmful to harvest. Being a New York City based brand, meadows and fields filled with blooms can be hard to come by. We have worked with various NYC Parks and community gardens to harvest flowers for dyeing. Some of our favorite flowers to dye with are:

Coreopsis

Scabiosa

Marigold

Cosmos

Rose (petals and leaves)

Goldenrod (an invasive flowering plant)
